I have been hacking away at this damn piece with a stupid broken unevenly-beating metronome and for my trouble I am apparently getting WORSE at playing it up to speed. Am I looking forward to playing it at this speed in front of people on friday? No. No I am not.

Fuck it. I am going to go solder now.

it might be kind of late for this now, but try taking it way down in tempo, and then doing it over and over while bringing the metronome up one notch at a time, working on each metronome notch until you can play it cleanly. sometimes you won't manage to get the full tempo clean by the time you're done, but believe it or not, after working like this, a full night's sleep really helps it fall together. i can't count the number of times i've put something down in disgust only to have it working easily the next day. i'm sure you'll do awesome!
