sexy_romulanBumming around prior to the glass workshop for which I am skipping french class (woohoo!...ahem, I mean oh well). Just as well, really, because I was up until an obscene hour watching Slings & Arrows, which was awesome and hilarious - even though I was a tiny bit cynical about it, since Paul Gross's experience playing Hamlet at Stratford apparently inspires this series. Having seen him flailing around in that role and having been roundly unimpressed, I found the show smacked very faintly of sour grapes. Although I have to say that the barely-veiled accusations it makes about Stratford's overstuffed and overdone Shakespeare are unfortunately pretty accurate, from what I've seen. Stratford's non-Shakespeare is SO much better.
Skating was awesome, except that my calves and feet are now wicked sore. I really need to buy and learn to skate in a pair of hockey skates, because my old figure skates are just ridiculous - I swear, they're half the width of my feet. My back is sore too, thanks to what Corey has dubbed my "zombie" skating posture (the result of my hunching over with every expectation of falling on my ass at any moment).
Today I buy some mirror and chop out the other tree. Corey surprised and delighted me with an early Valentine's gift of pattern shears (three-bladed scissors which cut a wider line, such that your glass pieces fit together better - trying to snip out that line with ordinary scissors is a big fat pain in the ass). I ♥ my husband. While I'm at the store for this workshop - it's a demo of how to make those funky moulded lamps - I'm going to ask what the hell I should do with the ripply green-gold glass in terms of grinding and foiling.
