May. 19th, 2007 07:15 amI think somebody must have surprised a skunk last night. I woke up at about 2AM and in semi-consciousness couldn't identify what was wrong except smells...BAD. At first I was sleepily afraid one of the cats had peed on the bed again, but then I woke up enough to recognize the smell. Standing at the window it was so strong it didn't even smell *like* anything anymore, it was just this powerful waft of UGH. It lingered even after I closed the windows and made it very hard to get back to sleep...your nose gets used to some bad smells after a bit of exposure, but every breath of this was really offensive. That is one powerful biological weapon.
This morning, fortunately, it seems to be gone. I'm torn between hoping that didn't happen in our backyard and hoping that some idiot trespasser got a big ole surprise. Ha!
Sooooo much to do today! I'm actually kind of glad I'm up early, now I can beat the holiday weekend insanity that is sure to unfold at every big box store in the city...
My evil plan:
* hit Home Depot for plywood, quarter round and hinges, with which I will make a mirror display
* wander the garden centre at Loblaws, just for fun
* hit Michaels for felt and a last couple of round mirrors
* hit the glass store for cattail glass, lots of zinc, lead, and solder before their sale ends...I guess I should get a new grinder head, too, I'm reaching that pushing-so-hard-I-cut-myself stage
* bug Cody Party about renting a table, although previous experience with them suggests that they're kind of jackasses, and if this experience repeats itself I will probably just buy one at Home Depot instead
Must hit the shower, 8AM approacheth!
