Sep. 25th, 2007 06:47 pmWhat the hell business does it have being this temperature at the end of September, I'd like to know???
It is too freaking hot to do any of the things I was planning to do tonight, so instead we went out for dinner and will follow this up with movie-watching. Tomorrow, when it is more temperate, I will plant the new plants and do more glass.
First attempt at fusing was promising, if not 100% successful. I achieved tack fusing, but the pieces still have a bit of an edge, and while they've softened into each other vertically they're still pretty distinct horizontally. There's a couple of spots where they were starting to merge; they just needed to bake a little longer. It's a slower process than I was told, which may be because my kiln is a couple inches larger or possibly because the room's lighting is on the same circuit as the kiln. I'll have to try it in daylight and see if letting the kiln hog the whole circuit makes a difference.
Nonetheless, it's clear that this will make some pretty damn cute christmas ornaments. Hope I can get the kinks sorted quickly enough to make a bunch for the show in November.
