Dispatches from planet baby
Feb. 23rd, 2009 10:23 amStill alive. It is a cruel stage of life that demands so much of your energy and attention while messing with your sleep at the same time. And I'm not sure how we ended up with a baby who seems to sleep LESS at a shot as she gets bigger, instead of the other way around. Still, sanity is only a little frayed around the edges. For instance - she may have only slept in 20-30 minute intervals for most of last night, but she's been cheerfully noodling around by herself on the hippo mat for long enough for me to eat breakfast and post this. And also making the most charming little random vocalizations evarrr.
Corey has volunteered to take a shift feeding her at night, so if I can express some milk during the day I can get a few hours uninterrupted sleep. (I have to say that milking oneself is, in my estimation, among the weirder experiences of womanhood.) Although it's not clear how often we dare to do that for fear of messing up the breastfeeding somehow...the occasional bottle has not fazed her so far, anyway.
