I read an interview that makes this very sad as well as infuriating. Apparently Lynn Johnston's mother used to beat the crap out of her as a kid; her dad meanwhile was very meek and retiring. Knowing that, it at least sort of makes sense how she ever came up with the Blandthony + Therese setup and why she thinks he's like the best thing since wonderbread. BUT STILL.
