Mar. 8th, 2009 06:51 pmMmmmmm, Strongbow. How I have missed you.
Thanks to the unexpected arrival of some tax dollars - love it when that happens! - I have been contemplating whether and how to deal with our cheapass stair runner. Alas, judging from the few places I've checked out so far, it may be out of our price range. Stupidly so, in fact. We have 43' of runner to replace, and most of what I've seen in the stores ranges from $25/linear foot on up. $25 x 43' = schya right.
There are, however, two options that may be sort of doable:

I'm referring here to the white patterned one on top, since the green-and-brown one turned out to be kind of vomitous. The Beans seems to approve, anyway.

There are a couple of other possibilities that I couldn't get samples of, but the background colour is the same, anyway; the detailing on the others is sort of a mossy green.
Of these two, I think the white patterned one might win out, actually. It's only $1 or $2/lf more expensive than the beige, and the beige...I don't know, it looks nice on its own, but when you put it down on the stairs it's...not enough contrast with the wood or something? It ends up looking kind of dingy. Both options are still sort of in the realm of "well, it'll do"...and I don't so much want to spend this much money on something that will just do. But our options in the $15-$18/lf category are pretty stupidly limited. Either one of these would be better than the current cheapassness, I suppose.
(While I'm posting pictures, strongbow is brought to me and this post is brought to you by the following cuteness:)
