Aug. 16th, 2010 09:34 pmRight. So tomorrow is the first bold day of my shiny new insane experiment in work-life balance, namely: hauling my ass out of bed to hit the studio at 5:30 AM, where I will work for an hour before returning home to shower and get on with my day.
My theory is that if I can manage this it will allow me to get shit done while preserving some vegetation time in the evening. Having gotten shit done, I will have rendered said vegetation time guilt-free. And as an added bonus, a 6:30 wakeup on the weekend will feel like sleeping in.
Do I have such ninja-like discipline in me??? WE SHALL SEE.
The Zoo is now thoroughly attached to songs at bedtime, and I need a bigger repertoire. I can only think of a limited number of appropriate-tempo songs off the top of my head, and after singing them all every night for two weeks straight I am bored silly of them. Anybody have other suggestions as to artists or albums I could raid? Folk songs seem to work particularly well, but I am running short of sources.
* Banks of Claudy (Loreena McKennitt)
* The False Young Man (old choir song)
* Come By the Hills (Loreena McKennitt)
* Seeds of Love (Loreena McKennitt)
* Dark Night of the Soul (Loreena McKennitt)
* All Through the Night (Peter Paul & Mary)
* Scarborough Fair
* Feed the Birds (Mary Poppins)
* Shalom Aleichem
* The Blessing of Aaron (old choir song)
* Cantique de Jean Racine (old choir song)
* Jesus Christ the Apple Tree (old choir song)
I have an old choir tape I should listen to again - it has a few more likely picks I've forgotten most of the words to (Cape Breton Lullaby, Bist du bei mir, The Bird in the Nest).
