Aug. 19th, 2010 08:13 pmResults of the insane early morning work-life balance experiment: surprising success! Both mornings I tried it I did not sleep through or ignore my alarm, but hauled my ass out of bed and out the door and got an hour in at the studio. It is bizarrely easier than getting out there at night, possibly because I know I will have a background buzz of accomplishment for the rest of the day, and possibly because it helps to have a strictly delineated time window.
In order to manage it I have to get my butt to bed by 9:30 the night before, though, and I have to watch what I eat over the course of the day, or I risk crashing and burning in the evening due to exhaustion + lack of blood sugar. It also works a lot better if I can actually collapse in a vegetative heap in the evening instead of having to Get More Shit Done around the house.
All in all, though, I think this is probably my best chance at project time. Will try a few more days post-vacation.
