Lightbox = lurv!!!! Man, I should have invested in one of these ages ago!
I've been working on my dancer panel, which has given me a lot of headaches but is slowly coming together. I've been using bits of various colours from my scrap box for the skirt and swirly bits; the body ended up being blue in deference to my source material. My other option was flat black, following the image on my World card, but I'm almost out of that colour and the glass store didn't have any in stock. I was afraid the blue might end up looking smurf-like, but this figure has rather a different build than a smurf, and in any case I variegated the colour a little bit and it seems to work. Getting the various colours to work for the skirt and swirlies was a BIG FUCKING PAIN - colour coordination has never come easily to me - but the above-mentioned lightbox made it 300% easier to see what I was doing. I *think* it's OK. Overall the result is somewhere between Shiva, the World, and the Fool, which I suppose is appropriate. I will let it sit overnight and take a sober second look tomorrow.
While at the glass store I also picked up a bunch of cheapie flat cathedral glass, which should be good to paint on. I further learned that I may be able to use copperfoil with painted glass, since I'm not using enamels; I will have to experiment and find out. It would certainly make my life easier on the design end (although I could really use the practice with lead - the stuff is just freaking hard to use on a small scale...next time I have some cash to throw around maybe I'll pick up that book of gorgeous 1910 window catalogue designs and start messing around with those.)
