My coworker brought me a giant clump of phlox and some jerusalem artichokes from her garden. Yay!
Meaning I actually have to clean up the yard. Sigh.
Well, I mowed the lawn tonight, which actually made a substantial difference all on its own, and did a bit of the most hellacious weeding. My gloves, having sat in the rain for three months, are ruined, so I am not mustering into that battle too much for fear of nettles. Tomorrow I will arm myself appropriately, do the rest of the weeding, cut down the blighted peonies, give the virginia creeper another haircut, and plant the new stuff somewhere.
Ugh. What a mess. Must work on this more consistently next summer!
Did some poking around eBay today and found some lovely ornament trees which I am going to try to snap up, especially since the dollar is so awesome lately. Would be a fabulous way to display fused christmas ornaments. I've also been toying with ideas for improving my display. I think if I painted the PVC pipes and put some skirts around the pails that might be a start, but I don't know if it would still be too rough looking. The other alternative is some much sturdier racks from Ikea, which are not TOO obscenely expensive. Can't see any way to attach lighting to them, though, and they're not available in store for some stupid reason...I could pay through the nose for shipping, but meh. Will have to play with the setup in my parents' basement a bit to experiment.
