My sister [livejournal.com profile] renegadelufin is taking her mad artistic skillz to Anime North in May. I am sure I remember hearing this con come up at the party the other night, and I'm also sure that it's not the only one people have been to. So: con attendees, can you pass along any reconnaissance as to what people like to see (art involving characters they recognize? random cool stuff? fantasy art? character studies?), what there's too much of already, what kind of price point is standard? I have been to exactly one con in my life, and this when I was 13 or 14 - I am poorly equipped to give advice. I know, however, that there are those on my f-list with wisdom on this subject. Any insight?

I've been to lots of cons -- but not any anime cons, nor have I bought or even really paid attention to art pricing at cons, and even if I had, anime cons may be quite a different market from general SF cons. So, though I look like someone that might have the info you're looking for, unfortunately I don't.

Huh, come to think of it... is the one con you've been to in your life the same one con that I've been to?

As for the matter at hand though: I have some ideas about what certain people such as myself would like to see at an anime con, but I won't attempt to corrupt your sister by getting into that subject. :)

Why yes, I believe it is - you submitted a story to the writing competition, and we went to a presentation on Hindu religious art, among others, as I recall...
