One more week till Art in the Park!!! Must...stop...dragging...feet and get ass in gear. Yes. RAHR. Am taking Friday off in order to get last minute preparations taken care of, at least.

There was a community garage sale day in the village on Sunday (rained out on Saturday) so I went for a walk around the neighbourhood and bought some plant pots, an Eric Carle book (The Very Quiet Cricket, to go with our copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar - I mean, really, how could I resist?) and a big potful of johnny-jump-ups, which for some reason I have had no luck starting from seed. I also spied a really cool cat condo, but its vendors wanted $110 for it...yeah, not likely, kthxbai.

Booked the afternoon off today to go to the doctor - have I mentioned that I fucking hate needles, btw? Because I really fucking hate them - and then squandered the extra hour or so of free time this netted me by watching The Coolest Cop Show Evarrr, aka The Wire. Went to check out the aforementioned used couch set, which was deliciously cushy and comfy for curling up in as well as looking good, and which the vendor is willing to hang onto until we can get it into the new house. SWEET.

Also in the SWEET category: my peonies are almost blooming! No sign of botrytis returning so far (knock on wood) - and each plant has a good 4 or 5 big buds on it. C'mooooonnnnnn peonies, you can do it!!!

How do you display things in your tent? Do you have a tent?

There are some photos of my display last year here (http://ami-b.livejournal.com/225604.html#cutid1). I think my display requirements are a little different from yours - I had to arrange things such that the light could shine through everything unobstructed - but here are some thoughts...

* depending on how sturdy your tent is, you could buy long chains (you know those chains they hang in pairs in art galleries to hang stuff from?) and hang them from the top rail of the tent; you can then hang your photos from S-hooks on the chains.

* check out the suggested display at www.artinfoboy.org (under FAQ I think? They have a link called "How can I display my paintings?") - materials for which are nice and cheap, a definite bonus. Alternatively, hang panels of the concrete mesh (or another heavy gauge wire fence-type thing) from the top rail of the tent. Use S-hooks to create hangers for your photos.

* you could try Zellers or Ikea (more expensive than Zellers) to see if they have garment racks, which are excellently portable and would be good for hanging chains from. They're a little wobbly on a grass surface, though; I anchored mine down with 9" nails.

* you could forego the hanging stuff option entirely and set up a table or two for photos to stand on. You can set up some heavy boxes or something under a tablecloth to create risers and vary the height of photos...or, for that matter, prop the photos up against said risers.

Hope this helps!
