Wow... a sad and eye-opening (albeit year-old) story about Wire-esque antics in Ottawa. Who knew. I'd have thought that the insane, instant addictiveness of crack was proverbial enough that people would know not to even try it - y'know, there are some things you can experiment with, and THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I can't even imagine the headspace that lets somebody get suckered into something so stupid and self-destructive. God damn the pusher man, that's all I can say.
That and what I'm reading about the Shepherds of Good Hope is pretty impressive. Good on them for advocating a harm reduction approach to substance abuse instead of puritanically insisting, like certain other faith-based missions to the homeless, on cold-turkey abstinence.
